On 19th October, 2016, an event took place at Merthyr Leisure Centre, marking World Mental Health Day and Safeguarding Week.
The event aimed to raise awareness of the issues surrounding both mental health and safeguarding issues and provided local organisations and partners with the opportunity to showcase the quality and quantity of services available within the County Borough, as well as further afield.
Officially opened by the Leader of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Councillor Brendan Toomey and Safeguarding Champion and Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Linda Matthews, the event was held mainly for members of the public and included mindfulness sessions, holistic therapies, tai chi workshops, a choir, raffle and various exhibition stands.
